    Barcelona insert first-option to sign Manolas in Vermaelen deal

    According to today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Barcelona have an option to sign Greek International Kostas Manolas if AS Roma decide to offload the player in the future.

    The two clubs have recently closed the Thomas Vermaelen deal. The former Arsenal captain has completed a season loan switch and Barcelona have added a clause to sign Manolas in the agreement for the Belgium International.

    Manolas is set to extend his stay at AS Roma signing a new contract. Manchester United and Chelsea had been linked with welcoming the player’s services at the beginning of the current transfer window.

    Manolas, 25, moved to AS Roma from Olympiakos in 2014.
