EXCLUSIVE ROMANO: Juve & Inter monitor Biglia contract situation. Lazio are now in a hurry.

Lazio has no time to lose in their quest to tie down their captain Lucas Biglia to a new contract in the Italian capital. The 30-year-old’s current deal expires in 2018 so in theory, in a little more than a year, the Argentine international could sign for a new club on a free transfer. President Claudio Lotito has expressed his intention to renew the contract but to date, a new agreement has not been found. The €2.5 million a season plus bonuses have not convinced Biglia that his future is in the Eternal City.

BETWEEN THE BIG CLUBS & THE RENEWAL:
Before next January, the hope for Lazio is that they can find a definitive agreement and to sit down with Biglia and discuss the way forward. Once again however, we must look at the figures proposed that the player has already expressed his doubts about and his current injury, which has stalled any more progress as Lotito begins to worry on the future fitness of his skipper. Last January, Inter were ready to present an offer to Lazio but injury scuppered any potential deal. These same doubts caused Juventus to change tack when they were hunting midfield reinforcements in the summer. Should Biglia just see out the remainder of his current contact in the capital, it will be an occasion for all the big clubs to start to circle. Lazio are convinced there is no need to worry but without pen being put to paper, the doubts will always be in the back of the mind.
