Can Milan qualify for the Champions League? The Case Against | Daniele Longo

What do AC Milan fans have to look forward to this season? Is it too much to hope for Champions League qualification?

Following a very strong start, our Daniele Longo (86_longo) takes us through the case for and the case against the Rossoneri making it into the Top 3.

    THE CASE AGAINST

The quality of the play is far from optimal. Milan have been lucky with some incidents, too, and they can’t depend on the quality of some of their stars, since they don’t really have any. They’re lacking a player who can give personality to their midfield. They often launch the ball long to the wings. Manuel Locatelli has shown some evidence of being able to shine at this level, but he needs to grow into it, and he is too young to have so much put on his shoulders yet.

The squad isn’t quite up to it. The Rossoneri have options at the back and in the middle, but very little on the wings, where Suso doesn’t have a reserve, though Bonaventura has done well replacing Niang on the left.

The striker situation. Carlos Bacca is certainly a great player, but the team is not exactly built to create loads of chances for him. Lapadula wants a chance, while Luiz Adriano has not convinced. Coach Montella has to handle three strikers with only one spot available.
