EXCLUSIVE Prandelli: 'Inter lack a leader on the pitch'

Fiorentina vs Napoli has been a beautiful answer given by two teams that have just been eliminated from the Europa League. It was an engaging match, between two teams that have battled openly. From a tactical point of view, I expected the game to be even, on the contrary, Fiorentina demonstrated to have more solutions. In the last weeks, the azzurri have shown some problems regarding their team’s flanks: maybe, during the last transfer window, they should have signed some backups for their full backs and wingers.
Another competitor for a Champions League spot –and, eventually an outsider for the title- is AS Roma. Spalletti have brought new energy and new ideas inside the team and some basic rules into the dressing room. I could say that Spalletti is not working only as a coach but also as an executive, even if in the future he will ask for more cooperation from the club.
The Juve I have seen in the last weeks, can go to Munich and play his chances against Bayern. In Turin, the German team has dominated, but the bianconeri’s reaction was very interesting. Is Bonucci the best defender around? Probably yes, and playing in a line with Chiellini and Barzagli helps him.
Inter’s situation is almost mysterious. I keep on thinking that Mancini is a great manager, so there could be a problem inside the dressing room. At the beginning, all the players believed in what they were doing, now it seems to me that the team is missing some leaders on the pitch, those who were transmitting the coach’s ideas to the rest of the group.
On the contrary, AC Milan have an extremely cohesive team. Niang’s injury is bad news, but the rossoneri won’t suffer too much his absence, as what makes the difference at the moment is the motivation.
