Former Chelsea target linked with Juventus move

On September 1st, just a few hours after the summer transfer window deadline, Juventus CEO and Sporting Director Giuseppe Marotta disclosed a rumor that very few have reported: “We were very close to sign Marek Hamsik.”

Whether as before this revelation almost no-one would have ever linked the Slovakian international with the Old Lady, now the two crop up more and more frequently.

The latest rumor comes from the pages of Tuttosport, where Napoli and Juventus are reported to be in talk for the 28 year old move to the Juventus Stadium.

The price tag for former Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United target is reported to be € 35 million, while Juventus allegedly offered the Partenopei € 25 million for the player’s services.

What could boost the chances of an agreement between the two clubs is the possible inclusion of young defender Andrea Rugani in the deal. The former Empoli starlet was at his best last year for the Tuscan club under Maurizio Sarri, and the current Napoli gaffer is reported to have requested his services also at the San Paolo.

In the summer Juventus stonewalled any offer for their prospect, even when Napoli asked them to include the defender and Stefano Sturaro in the Hamsik deal. However, that was at the beginning of the season and now that Rugani has failed to play one single minute during this first Serie A spell, his departure from the Juventus Stadium doesn’t appear so remote anymore.
