George Weah turns 50 today: ‘Sad for AC Milan, but Chinese money can help’

George Weah turns 50 today and the Gazzetta dello Sport celebrates the birthday of the former AC Milan striker with an interview.

“I’ve had a tough life. When I was a child I had nothing to eat, but I don’t like to remember those times. Thanks god I’ve reached 50 year-old now and I want to serve my country and my fellow citizens. Our contry 169 year-old and nothing is easy here, not even the next year so I can’t really say that I will become the next president of Liberia.”

“I still watch sport on TV and I go to gym each morning at 8. Sometimes I watch AC Milan, but I have to say that they haven’t given me too much satisfaction. But Milan is Milan and I hope everything will go the right way now.”

“New Chinese owners can build a great team. That’s what PSG are doing too. One needs money in order to buy champions. I saw Marco Simone last year, he’s like a brother to me and I usually talk with my friend Umberto Gandini who is at Roma now.”

Weah’s son scored a brace in a Youth League game with PSG three days ago, making his dad really proud

“I am happy for Timothy, I can only thank god for the great player he’s becoming. I always pray, when I pray I have no fear, but my prayers are also a way to be thankful.”
