Kondogbia: "I would be hard not playing in the Champions League but I will stay at Inter"

Inter midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has been speaking to L’Equipe.

He began by stating the differences playing in Serie A to other European leagues, explaining that; “The difference between Italian and Spanish football is that they feel less pressure, I want to have stability in my career, I don’t want to reach 30 having played for many different clubs”. He continued, “Inter is a great club and all the fans would love the team to emulate the one of 2010 (when they won the treble). To miss out on the Champions League for another season would be hard but when you are working with people like Zanetti and Stankovic you listen, because they are winners”.

On comparisons between his current club and former employers Monaco he stated; “There are different expectations, here they hate to lose and you feel the anger everywhere. I have to say however, that the quality of Italian football has surprised me, the level is very high and there are some really strong teams. At the moment, it’s certainly stronger than Ligue 1”.

On his ambitions to become a regular in the French national team he declared that; “I understand that at the moment I’m not part of the group. There are many players who play in my position that have exploded onto the scene. I’m not worried though, I’ve made five appearances so far and I’m happy with that”.
Finally, on his relationship with coach Roberto Mancini he explained that; “In our team, nobody can say they have’nt been given game time. He changes the team around a lot and naturally I’m not happy with this because players always want to play. We need to get results however and we must give credit for this”.
