Lazio ready to offer recovering De Vrij new deal to ward off Arsenal, Chelsea

Stef De Vrij is on his way back. The Dutchman is, according to the Corriere dello Sport, hoping to make the first game after the international break.

The idea is that the Lazio man doesn’t want to miss the following fixture, which just so happens to be the big derby with AS Roma.

December is also a key month for another reason: Lazio want to renew the -year-old’s deal, but can only offer him a maximum of 2 million a season, including bonuses.

This would make him the most-paid Eagles player by a stretch, but it won’t compete with what Arsenal and Chelsea will be offering.

The Dutch international has also attracted a lot of interest from Manchester United in the past, but his recent injuries haven’t helped on that front.

Recent news is good, however, with De Vrij’s foot microfracture healing enough for him to ditch the crutches he’s had since mid-October.

The Dutchman also went down to a knee injury last Fall, which caused him to miss the entire season.
