    Naples-Liverpool: Ambush in the night

    Ambush in the night in the center of Naples, where Liverpool fans were attacked in three different circumstances. An Englishman was stabbed in Via dei Cimbri, but fortunately his condition is not serious: taken to hospital and discharged after treatment.

    The second incident occurred in Mezzo Cannone, where a group of English fans were dining. The restaurant owner, Luigi Tranchese, 28, stepped in to calm people and was wounded in one eye.

    Finally, in Piazza Principe Umberto, the main station in the area, around 4 a group of Liverpool supporters was attacked: an Englishman was beaten and suffered injuries. An officer intervened to avoid worst. They three Italian nationals were arrested, two of Naples one of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi (Avellino).

    The mayor, Rosa Russo told Radio Kiss Kiss: "I am saddened to learn the news. It's  bad for the city and I regret that because of only 15 hotheads the whole city will end up on the news".
