Suso: ‘No more loans, I want to be a regular starter at AC Milan’

AC Milan attacking midfielder Suso has released an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport talking about his plans for the next campaign.

Was this summer the turning point of your career?
“I hope so. I feel this campaign will be different because I’ve improved a lot. I am working hard and I’ve understood that’s a decisive moment for my career. We are still at the beginning but I am the best scorer of the team at the moment. I like being important, but we can achieve results only with hard work.”

Did you need the appointment of Montella to play on a regular basis?
“When I arrived in 2015 I was not 100% fit and I had to settle in well. I didn’t understand what happened last year. The club told me there were no preclusions, but I could not start one single game. Mihajlovic never gave me any expalination, I trained well but I did not play. I don’t become noisy if I don’t play. I knew my moment would have arrived.”

Montella’s idea of football fits perfectly with your qualities
“True. He likes playing the ball, he loves ball possession and for a club like AC Milan that’s very important. If we have the ball on our feet, it is difficult for our opponents. I like Montella because he’s a bit ‘Spanish’. I need to be trusted, that’s the key. I am only asking to get more game time and I believe there is now the right manager to pay on a regular basis.”

Would you prefer playing for a top-club with less game time or a medium one on a regular basis?
“I want to be honest. Playing is all that matters at my age. If I can do it at AC Milan, that are a top club, then everything becomes perfect.”

    Do you regret leaving Liverpool?
“My contract was expiring and their proposal was not good enough. They are a special club. I arrived there when I was very young, it looked like a dream. If I play at AC Milan, that’s thanks to them. Moving to Italy was the right choice.”
