Ventura; "We will try a new system but we must adapt to Liechtenstein"

Italy national team boss Gianpiero Ventura has been speaking at his press-conference ahead of tomorrow night’s World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein.

ON THE OPPONENTS: “They only lost 1-0 to Spain so it would be foolish for us to underestimate them. We have respect for this team and out priority is to win the match. It will be psychological examination as well as a tactical one. I’m surprised to hear people only talking aout how many goals we are going to score”.

ON THE CLIMATE: “It is very cold but we are now in winter. It will be a football match just like any other and we have found the facilities excellent”.

ON IMPROVEMENTS: “When you start a new tactical path there are always new things to analyse and players must have the chance to get used to it. My squad has been working very well to adapt to these new ideas but this week we have only had three and a half days together”.

ON SQUAD SELECTION: “I’ve picked a squad that I feel is able to adapt to the opponent and can deal with any changes thrown at us. If our opponents change their system then we must have a squad capable of replying to these changes; that is the squad I have selected”.
