Wacky Races: Roma signing Peres totals car, loses licence in 5.30am crash
Bruno Peres is a very naughty boy.
Rete Sport claim that the Brazilian full-back totalled his car in a car crash this morning, the accident occurring at around 5.30 am.
As if things weren’t bad enough, he also lost his driver’s licence… which, it turns out, he had never bothered to convert into an Italian one.
The Brazilian has, in other words, been driving around Italy for two years with a licence issued by his native country.
Peres, 26, is on a one-year loan to Roma, a deal which can turn into a permanent €12.5m move if he meets certain conditions.
A talented player, life hasn’t been a picnic for Peres since he moved from Torino, having struggled with his defensive responsibilities, some of his weaknesses being highlighted by the Granata as they beat Roma 3-1 in September.
Respected for his technique and ability to beam down the wing almost at will, Peres is touted by some as being the new Maicon… but it looks like he’s going to have earn it.
