AC Milan’s takeover is a done deal, says Berlusconi

AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed that Chinese consortium Sino-Europe will complete the club’s takeover on the 13th of December. A shareholders’ meeting has been scheduled on that date and that’s when the Chinese buyers will buy the 99.3% stake in the club, Berlusconi has confirmed.

“AC Milan need fresh cash and I had to take a painful but necessary decision. The club’s takeover is a done deal”, Berlusconi said during Italian political TV program Matrix.

Berlusconi, however, has also claimed that “in case they fail to acquire the club, I’d be happy to take it back. I would love to start a project with young and Italian players.”
The Italian businessman has never hided his desire to keep the club’s presidency, but, at this stage, new Chinese buyers seem really close to buying the Serie A club soon.
Representatives of Sino-Europe have proposed Berlusconi to remain in charge as the club’s honorary president and the former Italy prime minister is considering their offer.
