    Barcelona target Bellerin close to Arsenal contract extension claims Wenger

    Hector Bellerin is close to signing a contract extension with Arsenal, Arsene Wenger has told English media. The Spain right-back is being heavily linked with a return to his childhood club Barcelona as the Nou Camp hierarchy are still looking for a long time replacement for Dani Alves who joined Juventus for free last summer.

    Bellerin, 21, is said to be on Barcelona’s shopping list alongside Glen Johnson, Elseid Hysaj and Joao Cancelo but the imminent contract extension with Arsenal might force Barcelona to cancel the product of their academy from the shopping list.

    "We are working on Bellerin's contract extension and an agreement seems to be close. We'll reveal the details at the end of negotiations", the French boss has told reporters.

    ​Bellerin has one assist in 14 appearances with the Gunners so far this season. His current deal with the North London club expires in 2019, but his new contract will have longer expiry date as well as a bigger salary.

    The Spaniard is not the only Arsenal star set to sign a new contract with the club as also Alexis Sanchez and Mesul Ozil are negotiating a new agreement with the Premier League giants.
