EXCLUSIVE Pavoletti said no to Napoli January move

Napoli’s search for a striker continues, and it now appears that they’ve convinced a fellow Serie A club to sell up.

Our sources tell us, in fact, that Genoa are willing to sell star striker Leonardo Pavoletti to Napoli, president Enrico Preziosi having already been contacted by colleague Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The only roadblock, however… is Pavoletti himself, who has said that he prefers to leave in June.

Napoli are in desperate need of a striker, having lost Arkadiusz Milik in September to a cruciate ligament tear, one which is very unlikely to heal quickly enough before February, likely the Spring.

If Pavoletti (who already expressed reservations at being a second-stringer in Naples) isn’t willing to move in January, De Laurentiis has Zaza as his first alternative, but is also willing to bring back Duvan Zapata from Udinese.

It’s been a very positive start to the season for The Black Pearl, the Colombian netting four goals for Udinese in Serie A action so far this season.
