Duda: ‘FFP rules prevented me from joining Inter’

Calciomercato.com takes you once more behind the scenes of Inter’s summer transfer campaign, after we published that Hajduk Split’s Sporting Director Goran Vucevic had told us that the Milanese side had assured him that they would sign star Tino Susic, before failing to close the deal.

Ondrej Duda, another big name on Piero Ausilio’s list, today revealed that he was close to joining the San Siro team in the past transfer window, but that Financial Fair Play rules prevented him from doing so.

“The club was fined for breaching the Financial Fair Play rules, and in order to avoid another penalty, they chose not to sign me”, the 20-year-old told the Polskatimes.

“The two clubs had already agreed my price-tag, although Legia Varsavia wanted to be paid the whole sum immediately, something that Inter couldn’t afford, because they would have breached the FFP’s rules again.”

“The following day Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio changed his mind and my transfer fell apart. I was ready to put pen to paper on a three-or-four year contract.”
