Inter warrior Medel could miss up to two months following Milan injury

Just as things were looking up for Gary Medel, so the Gods have hacked the Chilean down.

Coming off 37 minutes into a very good performance in Sunday’s Milan Derby, the former Cardiff City man will find out this afternoon how much time he will miss.

Medel’s knee injury could, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, lead to one of two scenarios: if this afternoon’s tests reveal that his right knee has simply sustained a strain, then the 29-year-old will, in all likelihood, only miss two weeks.

Then again, this will mean skipping both Napoli and Fiorentina games.

The worst case scenario is far more preoccupying, however, with the Chilean set to miss six weeks, likely two months if there is either meniscal or ligament damage.

As we underlined yesterday, the South American seemed set to become Joao Miranda’s partner in the middle, his aggressive performance against Milan ensuring that Carlos Bacca was kept quiet for most of the first half of Sunday’s 2-2 draw.
