Cerci at crossroads as Genoa and Roma are chasing him

Alessio Cerci is set for AC Milan exit after a dry one year spell at San Siro. The product of Roma Academy still belongs to Atletico Madrid and his contract with Colchoneros runs until 2017.

As previously reported, Cerci has been targeted by Serie A relegation contenders Genoa, though Atletico Madrid have not allowed the player’s loan transfer.

La Liga side only want to sell the product of Roma Academy on a permanent basis, or on loan with mandatory buy-out clause, as they don’t want to lose the player as a free agent at the end of the 2016-2017 campaign.

The player himself is also skeptical over his arrival at Marassi and rumors from Italian papers suggest that Roma have also pounced on the player as the Giallorossi are looking for a replacement of Juan Manuel Iturbe, who’s joined Premier League side Bournemouth.

Stefan El Shaarawy and Diego Perotti have also been linked with a Stadio Olimpico move, but Cerci could be an interesting option as he can be added in the list of home-grown players since each Serie A side will have to register at least four from the beginning of next season.
