EXCLUSIVE ROMANO: Juve, why Marotta said no to Brozovic

After failing to persuade Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic to join the club in the summer, Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta will not be looking to acquire the 23-year-old Croatian in January.

THE REASON FOR NO:
Firstly, Juventus does not want to find itself embroiled in a confrontation with the nerazzurri and does not want to be held responsible for the player being omitted from the squad. There is also the small problem of entering into an auction to get their man which would mean an outlay of around €25 million. On top of this, new owners Suning refused to have any dialogue with the bianconeri over Brozovic, the same as that for Icardi.

THE BALL IN INTER’S COURT:
Juventus Sporting Director Paratici has followed the player since he was with Dynamo Zagreb but the situation is locked and the only thing that would change the situation would be if Inter opened up a track of negotiation which at this moment is highly unlikely. Suning are reluctant to negotiate with their direct rivals and the situation with Brozovic looks to hit a stalemate. Now they must decide whether to offer him a renewal or place him on the market in January; either way, it seems Juve have pulled out of any race and will not return to the scene.
