Napoli fans react to decision to ban them from Juventus game

Juve vs. Napoli is definitely the game of the season as the two clubs are leading the way in Serie A in race for the Scuetto title.

Napoli, by the way, will have to travel to the Juventus Stadium on February 13 without their fans, who have been banned from travelling to Turin to follow their team.

Those kind of decisions are pretty common in Italy, especially for those big games that might be causing a threat to public order outside the stadiums.

The same measure had been taken ahead of the first leg game, when Juventus fans were banned from travelling to the San Paolo.

Now, the situation is different, by the way. Napoli are the Serie A leaders and playing this kind of clashes without the support of their fans could be disadvantageous.

There’s a common belief among Napoli fans that if the game would have been played at the San Paolo at this same stage of the season, the Old Lady’s fans would have never been banned from travelling to Napoli.

Of course, they all hope that Gonzalo Higuain and co. will let their feet do the talking, beating Juventus away.

Carlo Longhi, a former Serie A referee who is now a member of CAMS, the committee that took the controversial decision has explained that reciprocity is one of those things that members take into account before making this kind of decisions.

Talking to Radio Kiss Kiss, Longhi has also added that it is time for fans to understand that they should be more quite and calm during football games, because doing the other way around will lead them nowhere.

“Napoli are doing so well right now that they needed the support of their fans.”
