Juve: Marotta ‘explains’ Padoin

Juventus spent the last week of the transfer window chasing Radja Nainggolan from Cagliari but ended up signing Simone Padoin. The latest deal was indeed less exciting than expected but Director Beppe Marotta explained why the Bianconeri opted to sign the Atalanta boy. “Padoin is a versatile player who can cover several positions. Antonio Conte already knew him having coached him at Atalanta and knows how professional he is. This is a key factor for being part of our team,” said Marotta. “Nainggolan certainly was a target but the Cagliari didn’t want to sell so we had to look out for other options. It is a pity but we respect the decision made by President Massimo Cellino.”
