Zenga wants Samp to turn things around
Since defeating Roma in September, Sampdoria have only won one league game in five, and played very poorly two weeks ago in a 2-0 away loss to promoted Frosinone.
“I expect the team to show character so that we can turn the page in this campaign” Zenga told assembled media at the team’s press conference.
The former Catania and Palermo coach was quick to underline how impressive Chievo have been this season: the Mussi Volanti sit in 12th place, just three points short of Samp, and already have a 4-0 thrashing of Lazio under their belts, as well as a draw with Juventus.
“There are no easy games in Italy, so I always focus on how we play.
“I think Maran is a coach of some importance, Chievo are used to fighting for survival and they know how to keep their concentration levels up”.
Though winless in five Serie A games, Chievo have lost by just one goal to Inter, Napoli and Milan, and scored two last time they visited the Marassi - including this outrageous backheel from veteran Sergio Pellissier - eventually losing to Genoa to a last-gasp Panagiotis Tachtsidis beauty from outside the box.
