EXCLUSIVE ROMANO: Witsel and Juventus furious with Zenit. What happens now?
Every single detail had been fixed with both Zenit and the player, but the Russians failed to give the green light on time to allow Juventus to finalize the deal.
Both the player and the club are now furious with Zenit. Our transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano claims that the Russian’s decision was partially motivated by the player’s medical which were taken before a total agreement between the two parties had been found.
A € 21 million move collapsed, but Juventus have yet to give up on the player. The Belgian can sign with the Old Lady as a free agent to join the J Stadium in June, but the bianconeri will make an attempt in January, making a very low offer to get a player who would leave for free six months later.
Zenit are not willing to give the player away for a cheap price and will also try to extend Witsel’s contract with a mega-offer which the 27-year-old is expected to refuse.
