Arsenal: Alexis contract talks on hold as player asks huge pay rise

Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez has yet to find agreement over the player’s contract extension.

The Chile International is on a € 9 million deal until 2018, but talks over a contract extension have been put on hold.

Sanchez has asked a huge pay rise in order to sign a new agreement with the North London club. The former Udinese and Barcelona ace has requested a new € 16-million-a-year salary and Wenger believes that the request of the 27-year-old winger can’s be satisfied as the gap between his current salary and his possible new one is way too big.

Sanchez is one of Arsenal’s stars having scored five goals and registered as much assists in the opening nine games of the season. The Gunners signed him from Barcelona in summer 2014 for € 42.5 million and the Chilean midfielder has justified his price-tag with 47 goals and 28 assists in 102 games with the Gunners.

Juventus and Manchester City are monitoring the situation as they could make a bid, should Sanchez refuse to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium.
