How Juan Jesus has gone from the gutter to the stars at Roma

His first two months were nothing short of a disaster, booed by fans who were just as angered by his poor performances as by his price-tag, a compulsory 10 million buyback to be completed next summer.

For comparison’s sake, the popular Lucas Digne would have cost Roma 18m… and was instead shipped off back to Paris.

And yet, Juan Jesus has turned things around, making the most of Mario Rui’s injury to impose himself as a Giallorosso. He has done well, not letting the vitriol get to him, something confirmed on his Facebook page:

“I haven’t blocked any social account...I’ll fight every second for Roma, to honour the shirt that I has strongly desired, and to give my contribution so that the group remains united”.

Jesus was defended by Spalletti, who supported his man and started him against Inter, where he was solid and cancelled out Antonio Candreva. Next up came Napoli...where Jesus was strong again, wiping out Jose Callejon and turning out to be a key element of the back line.

With Bruno Peres out for at least two more weeks, Jesus has a chance to further consolidate his position.

    Quite the turnaround, eh?
