    Milan update, CM Sources: Ambrosini the alternative to Maldini

    19.05 UPDATE: calciomercato.com has exclusively learned that if Maldini will decisively say no to AC Milan’s job offer, Marco Fassone would offer the Technical Director role to Massimo Ambrosini, another legend of AC Milan currently working as Serie A pundit for Sky Italia.

    The role proposed to Ambrosini, however, would be slightly different from the one offered to Maldini has Ambrosini is believed to have less media impact that the former rossoneri’s n.3.

    Ambrosini could be offered a role that facilitate links between the club and the new ownership.

    Paolo Maldini has rejected AC Milan's offer to become thier new technical director. Maldini met Marco Fassone and some representatives of Sino-Europe earlier today, but refused the job offer as he would prefer to have a role with the same powers of new director of sport Massimo Mirabelli as well as being given a role which would really help the club's future development. In a few words, he's not happy with the job profile he was offered, but the two parties could have another meeting soon.


    16.00 - After months of rumours suggesting he could be making a return to the club, former Milan legend Paolo Maldini has met new CEO Marco Fassone today to discuss the possibility of taking up a position as a technical director at the Rossoneri. It’s believed he will report to Fassone and new Sporting Director Massimo Mirabelli. 
     
    The 48-year-old will now be given a few days to think about the offer on the table as Milan head towards a change of ownership on November 20. Maldini spent his entire career with the rossoneri after joining them as a youngster in 1978 and played a total of 647 games for the club. He was capped 126 times by his country, retiring from international football after Italy’s controversial elimination from the 2002 World Cup. 
     
     
    In 2015, he took co-ownership of NASL club Miami FC but has always stated his desire to one day return to the club he loves above all others.
