The four managers on Inter’s shortlist to replace De Boer

Inter play a key Europa League clash tonight away to Southampton and interim boss Stefano Vecchi will be in charge of the senior team after Frank De Boer’s sacking.

According to reports, there are four managers who could replace the axed Dutch boss on the nerazzurri’s bench.
Inter director of sport Piero Ausilio and Javier Zanetti are pushing to hire an Italian manager who has Serie A experience and could bring some stability in the team. Stefano Pioli and former Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin top the shortlist of Ausilio and Zanetti. Pioli is still under contract with Lazio and has to cancel his contract with his old club before signing a new deal with Inter. The Italian tactician, however, has already agreed to get the Inter job.

The club’s owners Suning, on the other hand, want a new manager with an International pedigree. Inter ‘informal’ external advisor Kia Joorabchian has suggested former Villareal boss Marcelino and Guus Hiddink who also had an interim appointment at Chelsea last term, replacing Jose Mourinho before the Blues named Antonio Conte as their new boss.

Given his young age, Suning would prefer Marcelino, but Steven Zhang and Ren Jun will take a final decision over De Boer’s successor this week when they will travel to Milan to meet all the potential candidates.
