Lazio interested in PSV midfielder Maher

Lazio are having a busy summer, that's for sure. With Ciro Immobile undergoing a medical today and Marcelo Bielsa recently jilting the club amidst mass fan protests, Aquile fans haven't had anything resembling a summer break.

Good job the Gazzetta dello Sport are there to keep us up to date: with Jordan Lukaku recently joining the Biancocelesti, director of sport Igli Tare is now looking for more defensive reinforcements: Rodrigo Caio of Sao Paulo is first in line, with Jardel of Benfica (who is expensive) a Plan B.

Otherwise, Lazio are interested in Empoli's Federico Barba... but are also chasing Adem Maher of PSV Eindhoven. Remember, the Roman team has good contacts with Dutch football, having signed the likes of Ricardo Kishna, Stef De Vrij, Wesley Hoedt and Edson Braafheid in the last couple of years.

Could Maher, 23, be the solution? Though PSV spent €8 million to bring him to the Phillips Stadion, he sustained an injury last season, limiting his first-team Eredivisie appearances to 14 and even forcing a spell with the reserves.

Maher had previously netted eight league goals in the 2014/2015 season. Could this be the low-cost opportunity Lazio were waiting for?
