Guardiola eyes Man Utd target as potential replacement for Kompany
The Citizens’ boss Pep Guardiola is desperate to sign defensive reinforcement in the January window as John Stones is still failing to justify his price-tag and Aleksandar Kolarov is being mostly deployed as centre-back instead of full-back.
According to the Daily Star Sunday, Guardiola is interested in taking the 25-year-old defender to the Etihad Stadium in the winter transfer window even if the Catalan tactician will have to battle it out with José Mourinho for the signing of the highly rated Dutch defender.
The Special One is also looking for some defence reinforcement in the incoming transfer window as Eric Bailly will be playing the African cup of nations in January and the Portuguese gaffer need a solid partner for the Ivorian centre-back from February.
