REPORT: What was behind the Allegri - Mandzukic row?

Mario Mandzukic had a rather heated argument with Coach Max Allegri over the Bayern Munich game, the Gazzetta dello Sport reveals in today's printed edition.

Allegri evaluated the Croatian's conditions (he is coming off another injury) up until the very last minute before Juventus' Champions League return leg with the Bundesliga champions, before opting for a lone striker in Alvaro Morata. Mandzukic, a former Bayern player, clearly had payback in mind when facing the Bavarian giants, as he was marginalized two years ago by Pep Guardiola's arrival at the Allianz Arena.

Utterly determined to make the game and wreak havoc, the 29-year-old was understandably angry when he heard he wasn't to start, provoking his argument with Allegri.

Ironically, Juventus' problems began the very moment the Croatian was sent on a sub in the second half instead of Morata, arguably the Old Lady's Man of the Match.

It turns out that Allegri was probably right to rest him after all...
