ANALYSIS: Menez is Niang's replacement at Milan

A double dose of good news for Milan fans this morning: first, their 5-0 win over giant killers Alessandria earned them a spot in the Coppa Italia final, their first in 13 years.

Best of all, however, the Rossoneri can now rely on Jeremy Menez again, the Frenchman returning after 10 months and scoring his first goal in 11.

After an initial period of difficulty, the Frenchman showed that he can be everywhere, beginning with a fierce volley, and netting his first with a powerful diagonal effort. His second came from a goalmouth tap-in. Compared to the Napoli game... this is a big step forward.

The timing of Menez's return is just perfect: with M'Baye Niang being involved in a car crash and likely out for two months.

As Mario Balotelli has generally failed to impress since he recovered from a sports hernia, Milan are lucky to have the talented Frenchman back. After all, Kevin-Prince Boateng is more of a replacement for the winger, whilst Luiz Adriano is barely returning to the team.

One thing is clear: Mihajlovic trusts Menez. Milan can count on their star once again.
