FOCUS: Suning takeover has radically changed Inter's transfer strategy

With the season mere days away from starting and less than two months to the transfer of power to new owners Suning, Inter fans are right to ask themselves if anything has changed in the short term.

The answer is an emphatic yes: if the Mauro Icardi and Marcelo Brozovic cases prove anything, it's that the Nerazzurri don't have to sell because of Financial Fair Play considerations, and especially not to their direct rivals for the Scudetto.

With Brozovic being repeatedly linked to Juventus, Beneamata fans can point at the Icardi case in order as an example of their club steadfastly refusing any offer for its prize assets, a welcome contrast from the days of Wesley Sneijder and Philippe Coutinho.

Though Juventus made an approach too, Inter were at their staunchest when rejecting Napoli's 60 million bid for the Argentinian striker.

Though they don't mind selling Brozovic for €23-25 million, Inter's plan is to not to sell him to a fellow Italian team, especially not Juventus, despite the Bianconeri being happy to satisfy his salary demands.

Beyond adding players, then, this is another sign that inter want to quickly return to the top, and be a part of the elite. Somewhere down the line, Suning have realized that selling now would be tantamount to suicide.
