Former Spurs technical director Baldini set for AS Roma return?

According to today’s edition of Il Tempo, former Spurs technical director Franco Baldini could return to AS Roma for the third time in his career. The Italian paper claims that Baldini could be hired as external advisor, waiting for Walter Sabatini to hand his resignations in.

The current giallorossi sporting director announced he wanted to leave the club last April, but a various number of meetings with Luciano Spalletti have convinced him not to go ahead with the Serie A club. Sabatini has also rejected an offer of Bologna to remain at the Olimpico.
Baldini is also on very good terms with Spalletti, though his relationship with Totti had deteriorated during Baldini’s last experience with the giallorossi.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, however, Sabatini is not thinking about leaving his job soon and is negotiating the signings of those players who could help AS Roma to fill the gap with Juventus.

Gerson will land in Rome in the next few days to begin his adventure at the club and AS Roma are also keen on Yuri Tielemans who has attracted the interest of the best European clubs, including Real Madrid.

Bologna’s Amadou Diawara is another hot prospect on Sabatini’s shortlist. He could offer a player plus swap deal involving promising hit-man Umar Sadiq or Leandro Paredes who is on Vincenzo Montella’s sights as well.

Georgino Wijnaldum and Milan Badelj are two more fascinating names for midfield reinforcement, but, in the meantime, Real Madrid have stolen Sergio Diaz from under the giallorossi’s noses. The 18-year-old striker has snubbed a move to the Olimpico in favour of Real Madrid completing a $ 7 million transfer from Cerro Porteno. The young striker will undergo medical with the merengues on Tuesday.
