Exclusive: Juventus open Witsel talks as Allegri demands midfield reinforcement

Serie A giants Juventus are not going to give up on the signing of Zenit St. Petersburg star Axel Witsel and will enter transfer talks with the Russian side over the next few weeks, calciomercato.com has exclusively learned.

Witsel had already reached economic agreement with Juventus last summer, but his move to the J Stadium collapsed in the deadline day. The Belgium International has just six months left in his contract with Zenit and he’s not going to sign a new one as the player has already revealed that he’ll be playing for Juventus in the future.

The Serie A giants, however, are in desperate need for midfield reinforcement and want to take Witsel to the stadium as soon as possible. The Old Lady, however, is only open to offer € 4-5 million as Witsel would move to the club as a free agent at the end of the season anyway.

Marotta and Paratici will make contact with representatives of Zenit over the next few weeks and will ask Witsel to push to leave the Russians in the winter transfer window.

Juventus boss Max Allegri, however, has asked the club to add even more quality and depth to the squad in January, demanding the signing of one more midfielder next month. Witsel would be a perfect addition for the biaonconeri squad, but Zenit are not open to sell their star for just € 5 million, at least at this stage.
