According to our sources, Pep Guardiola called the young Brazilian talent recently to try to sway him, taking time to illustrate the Sky Blues' future plans, not to mention the €31/32 million offer that City have on the table.
Gabriel was very excited to be talking to one of the world's most respected coaches, but it seems increasingly likely that he won't be moving until January.
Meanwhile, Palmeiras have let it be known that nothing has been signed yet, issuing an ultimatum to the other teams who are following him – which include Inter, Real Madrid and the less-active Barcelona.
Though the Nerazzurri haven't given up, it will be hard to match City's economic power.
