Walter Samuel to join Pioli’s Inter coaching staff
The Italian manager had a meeting with Suning two days ago and Marcelino was thought to be the leading candidate for the job. Inter, however, have cancelled their meeting with the Spanish manager’s agent today, suggesting that he’s not going to be the chosen one to replace Frank De Boer.
Kia Joorabchian has backed the club’s decision. The Iranian-British agent was thought to be a sponsor of Marcelino having had dinner with the former Villareal boss two days ago, but Kia has agreed that Inter need a manager that has some sort of knowledge of Italian football, backing Inter’s decision to hire Pioli.
The former Lazio boss, however, is still waiting for the official announcement as he has yet to cancel his contract with Lazio.
Inter legend Walter Samuel is going to join Pioli’s coaching staff at Inter. The former Argentine midfielder retired from football last summer and had collected 236 games during his nine-year spell at the club.
