Bayern Munich: Rummenigge drops hint that three stars may not be offered contract extension

The future of Frank Ribery, Xabi Alonso and Arjen Robben at Bayern Munich has been put into serious doubt by the club’s president Karl-Heinze Rummenigge.

The Bavarians’ stars contract are expiring in June 2017 and the club’s no. 1 is considering whether to offer them new deals or not.

Ribery (33), Xabi Alonso (34) and Robben (32) combined have won 60 trophies throughout their career, but their successful career might not be enough to earn confirmation at the Allianz Arena.

“They are three important players”, Rummenigge told German media on Tuesday morning.

“We owe them a lot for our victories in the past, but now the problem is how to connect the past, the present and the future.”

If Bayern Munich fail to offer their star a contract extension by the end of December, they’d be free to find agreement with any other club and move there as a free agent at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
