Exclusive: Juventus jump to front of the queue for AC Milan, Roma target Caldara

Juventus are in pole position to sign Atalanta starlet Mattia Caldara, calciomercato.com’s Nicola Balice has exclusively learned. The promising 22-year-old centre-back is imposing himself as one of the best centre defenders in Serie A with AC Milan and AS Roma that are also monitoring the player.

Juventus have entered transfer talks to sign both him and his teammate Franck Kessié in the January  transfer window, but although the talented Ivorian midfielder has already agreed to move to Juventus, Caldara has yet to give the green light as Juventus wouldn’t offer him a regular spot in the starting XI.

The Old Lady, however, would be open to buy both players in January, leaving them on loan at Atalanta until the end of the season, whilst both AC Milan and Roma are interested in taking Caldara with them straight away.

Juventus’ director of sport Fabio Paratici met his Atalanta counterpart in Milan a couple of days ago, entering transfer talks for Caldara and Kessié. The Serie A giants want to persuade Atalanta before AC Milan and Roma do. At the moment Juventus are in pole position to sign both players, but rossoneri and giallorossi are not going to give up so easily and are expected to make a new proposal for Caldara in the next few days.
