Exclusive: N’Zonzi not joining Juve in January, Witsel remains the priority

Juventus are not going to sign Steven N’Zonzi in the January transfer window as the Serie A giants are not open to match the player’s € 30 million release clause, our transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano has exclusively learned. The French midfielder can’t play Champions League games with another club and Juventus don’t want to invest as much just to use him in Serie A games.

That’s why Axel Witsel remains the real priority of the Old Lady. The Belgium midfielder can join the Old Lady for just € 6 million and can play Europe’s elite tournament from February.

Meantime, contacts between Juventus and Atalanta are ongoing for Mattia Caldara and Franck Kessié. The bianconeri want to sign the promising Italian defender in January and leave him at his club on loan until the end of the season. Atalanta want € 25-30 million, Juventus offer € 20 million plus bonuses. The two parties could meet half-way to find an agreement. Caldara is only chased by Serie A clubs and that should allow Juventus to keep a low price-tag, whilst Kessié is also wanted by Premier League clubs and that could complicate the Old Lady’s plan to nab him next month.
