Here’s why Isco did not join Tottenham last summer

Real Madrid star Isco was heavily linked with joining Tottenham last summer and the Premier League giants made several attemprs to sign the Spaniard the previous transfer window.

Mauricio Pochettino was open to sign the player on loan, but according to a report of The Sun, the Argentine tactician was also ready to spend big money to bring the former Malaga star to the White Hart Lane on a permanent deal.

The British tabloid, however, claims that Isco’s economic demands discouraged the North London club from making a concrete offer to Real Madrid. However, given that negotiations with the club’s entourage had led nowhere, the Premier League side decided not to enter transfer talks with Real Madrid as they were not open to match the player’s requests.

Spurs executives feared that if they’d have matched Isco’ demands then most of other players would have knocked the president’s door asking for a pay rise. Tottenham eventually decide to sign Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle instead of the talented 24-year-old midfielder.
