Icardi: 'Calcio made me who I am today'

Following a summer-long courtship from Napoli, it looks like Mauro Icardi is sampling the good things in life.

Speaking at the presentation of his autobiography, the Inter Milan striker found some time to express his gratitude to Calcio in general.

“I left Barcelona to try Italian football, and I’m happy of that,” he told Italia 1, “I am what I am today because of Italian football”.

Icardi, 22, went on loan to Sampdoria a month short of his 18th birthday, going on to score 13 goals for the Doria’s youth team before netting 11 in 33 games with the A team.
