Inter’s possible starting XI under Stefano Pioli

The casting is over, Stefano Pioli is set to become the new manager of Inter. The former Lazio boss’ style is very different from De Boer’s as the Italian tactician usually wants his teams to be defensively very solid and does not favour an exhausting ball possession as the only way to build attacking actions.

Calciomercato.com’s Emanuele Tramacere points out how Inter could line up under their new boss. A 4-3-3 system is the formation that Pioli has been using the most throughout his career. He used that formation with Bologna youth teams, with Chievo Verona, Parma, Bologna and Lazio. Pioli will use a three-man defence just in case of emergency as he believes that t four –man line can be adapted to every opponent.

No need to say how important wingers and fullbacks are for the Italian tactician. Pioli builds the most of his attacking actions on the wings, but has always had a proper playmaker to start the action from the back. Inter do not have a true regista at the moment and Pioli is probably going to ask Inter to sign a player who can cover that position in the January window. Meantime, Ever Banega could be depoyed in front of defence.

Pioli wants a concentrated and concrete team, the game style during De Boer’s reign will be just a memory as the former Lazio boss is expected to bring defensive solidity and less horizontal passes.

POSSIBLE INTER STARTING XI UNDER STEFANO PIOLI
