Italy EURO 2016, Conte: ‘No problems with Juventus and Bonucci’

Juventus have decided not to allow Leonardo Bonucci’s trip to Florence where the azzurri will undergo three days of intense training sessions under coach Antonio Conte.

The next Chelsea boss has organized a training camp, calling up 28 players who could be part of Italy national team at EURO 2016, excluding players of Juventus and AC Milan that will battle it out to lift the Coppa Italia on Sunday night.

Serving a one-match ban for the final, Juventus defender Bonucci could travel to Coverciano, but his club have not allowed him to join his azzurri teammates.

Talking to journalists ahead of the first training session, Conte said: “I have no problems with both Bonucci and Juventus. I am on very good terms with them. They could say no to Bonucci’s call-up and that’s what they did. But I have no problems with that.”

“We’d been monitoring all these players for long time. I want to eliminate all the doubts and pick the best 23. It is not the start that matters, but the way we arrive. Injuries of Verratti and Marchisio are heavy, but we’ll start from our certainties, like Juventus’ defensive block.”

“Physical fitness will be vital. We’ll undergo all possible controls. We spent two difficult years, but we want to end the right way.”

Conte was also asked about his absolution in a match-fixing trial.

“Being absolved was great, but I can’t say that’s a happy-ending story. It is impossible to forget the last four years. This verdict gives me serenity, I decided to face the trial, but this situation will always hurt.”
