Man Utd lead race to sign €30m Benfica star

Manchester United lead the race to sign € 30 million defender Victor Lindelof who is said to be likely to leave Benfica in the January transfer window. The Sweden defender is also being linked with moves to Inter and Juventus, but Manchester United are the most interested club in signing the 22-year-old centre back who has a release clause of € 30 million included in his contract with the Portuguese club.

The Red Devils are open to negotiate a transfer fee which would edge close to the player’s release clause, whilst both Serie A giants are not going to offer as much to sign Lindelof in January.

José Mourinho is desperate to sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window as Eric Bailly will be leaving the Old Trafford hierarchy next month to play the African cup of nations with Cote d’Ivoire and the Special One also needs a new defender to partner the former Villareal centre-back once he returns from his international duty in February.
