Jose Mauri has gone from being one of the more interesting young midfielders in Serie A to riding the bench at AC Milan in just a few short weeks.

Having shockingly failed to play a single minute this season, the Italo-Argentine may well be getting frustrated, if his agent’s measured interview with Milanews is anything to go by.

Asked about a possible departure from Milan in the January window, Dino Zampacorta called it “a possibility”.

“It’s a possibility for Mauri, as I think it could happen to many other Milan players,” Zampacorta told Milanews.

“The team is going through some tough times at the moment, and I hope they can solve their problems as soon as possible, otherwise some players could leave, and not just young ones, either.

“We can eventually speak to the club about what to do in January. Ownership strongly wanted him, so every decision will be taken with the utmost serenity and with the club.

“However, talk of departure is normal if he keeps getting benched or left in the stands”.

Mauri’s agent was measured in his interview, still reaffirming that it was Mihajlovic’s choice whether or not his client played at all.

“Many things can change from here to January. If Jose were to earn the coach’s confidence, come on as a sub a few times and then, if he deserves it, actually play as a starter, then he’d obviously stop looking around”.

“I believe that Jose can always be a part of the team’s tactical set-up. It’s another thing if the coach doesn’t believe he’s capable, or that he isn’t capable yet, in which case neither myself nor Jose should have anything to say.

“It’d be better if there was more openness, but I believe that the coach, who is notoriously intelligent, serious and well-prepared, knows these things perfectly well.”

Zampacorta still found some time to make a pitch for his client.

“Some compared him to Mascherano, with due measure, because he can play anywhere. He can play in a 4-3-3, a 4-4-2 and a 4-3-1-2”.
