Spalletti : Roma have to go step by step against Real Madrid

It will be tough, but Luciano Spalletti wants Roma to ‘do the impossible’ tomorrow as the Giallorossi will face La Liga giants Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in the Champions League round of 16.

“My players know it will all depends on their strength. We don’t have to think about scoring three goals.”

“We need to go step by step. We need to score the first goal, that would change the game. That’s all we need to think about.”

“Making it through the next round would change our season, I am asking my players the impossible, but I can see in their faces they want to go the extra mile.”

“Dzeko is working very well. He’s been benched because I decided so, not because he was not training properly.”

“We have a decent style of play now, which means I am not getting wrong everything I’m doing. Dzeko can help us against Real, but he has to show me he can do more.”

“I think we’d need a classic centre forward tomorrow more than a false nine. A strong striker can help us creating some good chances against a team that will probably the first leg’s result.”

The former Zenit tactician doesn’t seem to have lost any sleep over Radja Nainggolan’s absence due to injury.

“This can’t bother us. If we are a big team we can’t depend on two or three players only. Of course that’s not a good news for us, but I trust all of my players, I expect a lot from all of them.”
