Santos manager: ‘Gabigol not ready for Inter’

Expectations were high on Brazilian starlet Gabigol when he was presented to press and fans last September. The former Santos striker completed a € 30 million move to Inter in the deadline day of the summer transfer window amid controversies but Gabigol has failed to have an impact so far having only played 16 minutes this season.

Our colleagues at Fox Sports have asked Santos manager Dorival Junior his thoughts on Gabigol’s struggles in Serie A and the Brazilian tactician has revealed that he believes his former player is still not ready for Inter.

“I did not interfere in negotiations but I told him that he should have stayed at Santos a bit longer in order to develop. When negotiations begun less than one year ago I told him that it was too early for him to leave and that he should have played several more games in Brazil before leaving.”

“I don’t think he’s having physical problems, he has yet to adapt to Italian football and Inter are not in one of their best moments. Gabigol, however, has a great advantage over the rest of Brazilian footballers: he is physically stronger than the others.”
