Exclusive: How Tomas Rincon went from being €100m from Juventus… to closing in on Roma

Today’s Corriere dello Sport has the scoop for us: the Roman paper claims that the local Giallorossi are set to snag Genoa midfielder Tomas Rincon, who was also being chased by the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan.

The idea is that he could be swapped with Juan Iturbe, a winger who could do with resurrecting in Genoa, something that has occurred to a number of fellow attacking midfielders.

In fact, he’s set to move to Roma - who are considered to be in pole position here - with a formula similar to former team-mate Diego Perotti, set to be loaned to the Giallorossi for six months, with a 7.5 million buyback at the end.

It looks like sporting Frederic Massara has definitively overtaken Juventus - and yet, Rincon was in Turin as recently as yesterday! But it’s not what you think: he found himself 100 metres away from the Biaconeri’s HQ in Via Galileo Ferraris, but it was to visit his clinic for a routine check!

The Venezuelan is a respected tough tackler, and would be a fine addition to any midfield - though some of our editorialists aren’t so convinced by the notion of an eventual move to Turin.
